How Modafinil helps you sleep less and be more active?

Modafinil is primarily available in the market to be given to people with sleep related disorders. However, the hectic modern world is constantly robbing the sleep of healthy individual and this has necessitated the use of some drug that can help in promoting wakefulness. This is one of the main reasons for the popularity of modafinil and you can even order modafinil online.

Modafinil is a nootropic drug and like any other nootropic drug it acts on the brain to produce the desired effect. As we all know, the brain is a highly complex organ and this makes the study of any brain-chemical interaction a very difficult task. In spite of this difficulty, a number of studies have been conducted to understand how modafinil helps in reducing sleep and making an individual more active.

The most prominent view states that modafinil works by blocking the molecules that are responsible for retaking the dopamine molecules. This blockage keeps the dopamine in the synapses for a longer period of time and thus keeps the reward circuit activated. The continued activation of the reward circuit produces the effect of keeping an individual more active and also sleep less. Since this drug does not produce any artificial enhancement of dopamine, the chances of developing dependence become very less.

One view states that modafinil works by interacting with the neurons of Reticular Activating System. This system is responsible for maintaining and guiding cortical arousal and by interacting with this system, modafinil helps in increasing the level of individual's arousal, which consequently has the effect of wakefulness and activeness.

Another theory suggests that modafinil works by changing the activity of  locus coeruleus. Gathered evidence show that modafinil alters the activity of locus coeruleus to low tonic and high phasic. This alteration of activity has the direct effect of creating norepinephrine. Now, it is well-established that norepinephrine interacts with various parts of the brain to produce wakefulness effects. Therefore, modafinil also helps in promoting wakefulness and activeness even through this indirect way.

Thus, modafinil helps the individual in sleeping less and being more active by interacting with various parts of the brain.
